Katie Noonan to guest host on ABC Classic FM

Recently named one of Australia’s top 100 singers of all time (Sun Herald, 2013), Katie Noonan joins ABC Classic FM on Sunday 18 August to guest present Sunday Morning.

Katie will present three hours of music by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Rameau, Australian composers Graeme Koehne and Ross Edwards, and, in celebration of his centenary year, Benjamin Britten.

Katie says: “I have grown up listening to ABC Classic FM and am thrilled and honoured to be joining the team behind the mic. ABC Classic FM has educated and excited my ears for many years and I’m incredibly proud to be a small part of such a quality institution.”

Katie Noonan’s technical mastery and pure voice makes her one of Australia’s most versatile and beloved vocalists. A mother, singer, producer, songwriter, pianist and business woman, the four times ARIA Award winning and six times platinum selling artist first received widespread praise as the angel-voiced lead of indiepop band George and has since taken audiences on sublime excursions through jazz, pop and classical music. She has worked with many of Australia’s orchestras and has collaborated with Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Most recently Katie finished a project in duo with classical guitarist Karin Schaupp, ‘Songs of the Southern Skies’, an album featuring beautiful recreations of iconic Australian and New Zealand compositions, both classical and contemporary.

ABC Classic FM Manager Richard Buckham says “We are delighted to welcome Katie Noonan as our guest and as your host for a great selection of music in our Sunday Morning show on 18 August. Katie’s association with the Sydney Dance Company and their new production Les Illuminations is a wonderful way to add to our celebration of Britten’s centenary year on ABC Classic FM.”

Katie Noonan presents Sunday Morning on ABC Classic FM this Sunday 18 Ausugst from 9am to 12 pm.
