It was a packed house at Melbourne’s Bakehouse Studios in Richmond on Saturday, as more than 200 guests came to watch US funk pop sensation DNCE perform.
Hosted by Matty Acton, KIIS Presents iHeartRadio LIVE with DNCE kicked off with a bang, with the band welcomed down under with an Aussie-themed party to celebrate their arrival.
Fans snacked on lamingtons, mini pavlovas and meat pies before the chart sensations took to the stage.
Chatting to the crowd throughout their set, the LA quartet fronted by multiplatinum superstar Joe Jonas with drummer Jack Lawless, bassist/keyboardist Cole Whittle, and guitarist JinJoo rewarded the room, opening with Pay My Rent before DNCE and a cover combining TLC’s hit No Scrubs and Drake’s Hold On We’re Going Home. The band finished off their set with Toothbrush and the smash hit Cake By The Ocean.
Cake By The Ocean (taken from their debut EP SWAAY) reached Top 5 on the Top 40 US radio airplay chart, becoming one of the most played songs of the year. The band have just released a brand new live video for the hit which captures their irresistible style, energetic charisma, and swaggering stage presence. The official video now has over 150 million views.
Internationally, “Cake By The Ocean” was #1 on the UK airplay chart for four consecutive weeks. It reached Top 10 on iTunes in over 10 countries and to date, global consumption for the song is over 3.5 million.
The track has gone Double Platinum in Australia and has hit #5 on the iTunes chart, #6 on the ARIA chart, and #6 on the Australian Airplay chart.
Hot off the heels of this success, DNCE then released Toothbush. The new video for the single was shot in LA and features supermodel Ashley Graham, who has taken the fashion and modelling world by storm.
