Lake Macquarie FM loses its Tx in fires

The community station has lost its transmitter in a bushfire raging on the NSW Central Coast.

The aerial and transmitter were on top of the big prawn service station, which burnt down today.

The station is still streaming online at

Program Manager Steve Armstrong says: “We have no way of letting our listeners know why we are off air, If you could let our listeners know of our plight, it would be appreciated, replacing this equipment is not going to be easy.”

It is expected the station will launch an appeal to replace the transmitter, once the fires are over and the station has moved out of emergency broacasting mode.
