Latrobe Wins Community Licence

The ABA has allocated a new community radio licence in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley to Gippsland Christian Broadcasters Inc (Life FM).

The Latrobe Valley service will broadcast on 103.9 FM.

Life FM has been broadcasting on the frequency under a temporary licence, which expires on 30 September. The permanent licence will take effect on 1 October.

Acting ABA chief, Michael Gordon Smith, says: “The service adds to the range and diversity of services in the Latrobe Valley. The applicant satisfied the ABA that it would meet existing and perceived future needs of the community in the licence area.”

The Authority has made the licence available after a process of consultation with local people.

Life FM was the only applicant.

Life FM currently operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will provide programs which appeal to the Christian community.

The new licensee can be contacted by calling Deb Bye on (03) 5143 0355.
