Listener selected to take over on air during Lucy’s maternity leave

Lucy Holmes Bailey from 89.9 LightFM Melbourne’s breakfast show Lucy and Kel is having a baby.

To replace her, for the past three weeks, the station has been trying out listeners to replace her until she comes back in the new year, after her maternity leave.

The station ran phone auditions to find the next big thing in radio for this paid position. They narrowed the field to six candidates and finally today announced the winner of the competition after a listener vote.

Lucy Holmes Bailey sais she wanted to find “someone I loved, someone I trusted, someone who I know would move heaven and earth to make the show amazing.”

The lucky listener who will have the privilege of getting up at 4am and spending the morning with Kel is Gosia Rakiej from Elwood. She will take on the role from September 8th until the end of 2014, after what was a very difficult decision for everyone involved.
