The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, John Farnham, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Cold Chisel, Elton John, The Doors, Queen, Dire Straits and Creedence Clearwater Revival all make ‘real music’ according to GOLD104’s 843,000 Melbourne listeners.
Building on the ‘Real Music’ concept, GOLD104 has launched a new TV campaign focusing on the stations’ ownership of the original ‘real music’ brand.
GOLD104’s Program Director, Dave Smith, says listeners constantly tell the station “one of the best things about GOLD104 is that it only plays songs they know: music they classify as ‘real’.”
In the minds of listeners aged 25 – 54, ‘real music’ incorporates many of GOLD’s regular Classic Hits. GOLD was number one station in that demographic in seven out of the eight ratings surveys of 2003.
This sentiment inspired the station to approach Russell Morris for the use of his hit number one Melbourne classic ‘The Real Thing’ in the ad campaign.
The commercial uses images of many famous artists, including original footage taken of the Beatles visit to Australia.
The images (shown below) along with the track stress the station solgan ‘Good Times And Great Classic Hits.’
The campaign, a series of 30 seconds advertisements designed in-house, will run for three weeks on Channels Seven, Nine and Ten Melbourne.
