Talk 1116-3AK presenter Brett de Hoedt is flying to New York to cover the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks and is available for freelance reports.
“Smaller Australian stations can’t afford to have a reporter in New York,” says de Hoedt. “That’s where I come in – for one day at least I’ll be their man on the spot.”
The Talk 1116-3AK weekend afternoon man and station floater has a decade’s journalistic experience. He’ll attend various New York commemorations plus the Australian Consulate’s service for Australians who lost their lives.
“September 11 was the biggest story that I’ve ever covered,” he says. “I was on-air the next day crossing live to survivors and witnesses. I knew I wanted to cover the first anniversary. It will be the story of the year.”
Brett will be available for live crosses before and on the day, providing detail and colour from an Australian perspective. Time differences and the day-long commemorations, provide several opportunities for Australian radio.
