Margaux celebrates female tradies ahead of International Women’s Day

Margaux Parker from Triple M’s Big Breakfast with Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody in Brisbane got her high viz outfit on and spent the morning with female tradies.

Margaux was impressed to see the positive pathways to women wanting to succeed in the traditionally male-dominated industry:

“When I was in school, girls who were interested in trades were usually encouraged to pursue fields like hairdressing or administration and whilst these are extremely worthwhile careers I’m so glad that girls now have the opportunity to branch out into other fields if they wish”, she said.

Co-founder of an all-women construction company, Eve Renovations, Laura Madden said it was great that Triple M was putting a focus on female tradies, “Women now see female tradies on social media and they think “If she can do it then I can do it”. Having said that, we still do face scepticism from some elements of the industry with people often assuming we are picking up building supplies on behalf of our husbands or fathers.”

Margaux took over from Robin Bailey on Triple M last September.
