Industry Training for experienced radio staff, looking for the next step in their career.

The AFTRS’ Industry Certificate in Radio Content, Management and Leadership is designed for experienced radio staff working in the commercial, public and community broadcasting sectors wanting to step up into management, content and programming roles.

The industry validated certificate will develop students’ programming, management and leadership skills to a professional standard.

Even if you have been in radio for a long time it really makes you think about radio from a different perspective and sets you up perfectly for the future. The course, first developed by Steve Ahern, runs for 24 weeks online, and kicks-off with 2-day conference at AFTRS’ Moore Park campus on May 1-2, bringing together industry leaders from around the country.

AFTRS Head of Radio Fyona Smith says: “It’s a unique event that provides networking and mentoring like no other. The conference features seminars and workshops designed by industry, for industry.”  Previous guests have included Valerie Gellar – Geller Media International, Duncan Campbell – National Content Director ARN, Gemma Fordham – National Head of Content SCA, and Matt De Groot – NOVA News Presenter.

“One of the highlights from last year which we continue to expand on is giving students the knowledge to create a positive workplace and the resources to help build strong, creative and resilient teams.  We provide the tools and advice they need to have those difficult conversations and to look after their teams mental and physical wellbeing,” says course lecturer Barry Keohane, who is also the Content Director for Mix 102.3 and Cruise 1323 Adelaide.
