Melbourne tech startup revolutionises radio promotions in Australia and abroad

It was 2012 when Keegan Bakker, an announcer on Melbourne’s Fox FM decided that instead of dealing with the daily frustration of outdated promotions management software, he would create his own.

Three years later he has added CEO to his job title.

His company, Audata, is the world’s #1 broadcast promotions management platform, used by every major radio station in Australia and making in-roads around the world.

“We were giving away so many prizes on-air and using paper prize sheets, other stations in the network were using spreadsheets, so I designed something simple to track and automate the process of prize allocation from campaign creation to listener prize collection,” says Bakker.

In simple terms?  The software exists to free up on-air announcers and promotions teams from paper trails, ensuring they spend less time collecting and collating winner details, and more time focusing on the bigger picture things that really bring promotions to life.

Together with Audata’s Co-Founder Jeigar Hynes and SCA’s Head of Talent Development Adrian Brine, the company is fast building an impressive list of global clients,

“Every major station in Australia uses Audata now: SCA, ARN and Nova Entertainment, plus NZME over in New Zealand and now Global in the UK are on board as well, which is really exciting”.

With a simple mission to help media and entertainment businesses build more compelling data driven experiences for their audiences, the Audata Promo technology has been welcomed  for radio promotions across the globe. The tech is revolutionising the way stations build on-air campaigns and communicate to their winners through automation.

As the broadcast landscape evolves, so too has the software with the recent introduction of Audata Events. “This was something we introduced to streamline the process when radio stations host their own events. We’ve said goodbye to unreliable door lists and introduced tech that makes it simple to award tickets and scan winners on entry.”

Time is now more valuable than ever, and with so many media companies searching for ways to execute promotions efficiently and cost-effectively, the future looks bright for Audata.
