The Northern Territory battened down the hatches over the weekend as Tropical Cyclone Fina approached Darwin.
Katie Woolf, from Mix 104.9 was keeping herself busy providing coverage to Sky News Australia and for work while the cyclone, the strongest the Territory has experienced since Tracy 50 years ago, gathered momentum. You can see in the main image Katie with her family’s cubby and a raintree out the window behind her.
Unfortunately both were lost in the storm. You can watch below.
Katie and family are safe and their home undamaged.
Fina has left nearly 20,000 without power in the Top End and dumped a torrent of rain, with 168.6 mm recorded at Darwin airport in the 24 hours to 9am this morning, Sunday November 23. It now moves towards the Kimberley Coast where it is expected to weaken into Monday.
