Mix and Salsa’s serve up a new life start

Mix101.1’s biggest promotion of the year has come to a spicy conclusion this morning with Bacchus Marsh couple Kylie and Scott Benson announced as the winners of Mix101.1 and Salsa’s New Life Starter competition.

The couple were handed the keys to the Salsa’s store on Bridge Road in Melbourne, a life-changing opportunity by Mix101.1 breakfast hosts Chrissie and Jane, during a live broadcast from the store this morning.

Kylie and Scott said: “We are in complete shock. When we entered the competition we dreamt of winning a new life start for our family, now it is a reality. Words can’t express how much this means to us all.”

The couple, who have been together for 15 years and have five children, both registered for the competition. Kylie currently runs a photo booth company and Scott, nominated as store manager, is an aircraft maintenance engineer. Although it’s a complete change of career for ex-military man Scott, he says it’s the new start he has been waiting for.

Scott said: “Running my own business will give me the perfect opportunity to provide for my five kids and give me more time to spend with them. With lots of changes in my current industry, this life-changing opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time.”

The couple were announced as the winners live on air by Mix101.1’s Chrissie and Jane this morning, following a Fiesta complete with salsa dancing, breakfast burritos and live Salsa and Mariachi bands.

Chrissie and Jane said: “What a spicy way to finish our final show of the season. We are thrilled we’ve been able to give Kylie and Scott a new life start and can’t wait to see them behind the counter of their very own store.”

Mix101.1  Salsa’s New Life Starter competition was launched in October. Applicants were invited to register on the website, with no prior food or business experience necessary. Three finalists were selected this week following a workshop at Salsa’s, before the winner’s announcement this morning.
