Mix to broadcast 24 hours straight

Marathon on-air stretch in Canberra to help long running radio and TV campaign.

Last year, the team at Mix 92.7 on the Sunshine Coast raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the Give Me 5 campaign after spending 25 hours straight on air. This year, it’s the team at Canberra’s Mix 106.3‘s turn.

Tomorrow (Thursday 6th June) at 4pm Mix breakfast hosts, Rod & Biggzy embark on their longest on-air shift on a ‘Business Bus’ and will broadcast from business locations around the region for 24 hours non-stop to fundraise for the Give Me 5 for kids campaign. All of the money raised will be going to the Children’s Ward at the Canberra Hospital.

The bus will be first parked at Supabarn in the Canberra Centre before heading off to other locations from Queanbeyan to Fyshwick, Belconnen and Braddon. Listeners are encouraged to meet Rod & Biggzy at the locations across the 24 hour period to make a donation, and to show their support.

Also in the ACT, Mix 106.3 and Southern Cross Ten will be holding a Telethon, to be broadcast on Wednesday 19th June.

Give Me 5 for Kids is a fundraising initiative supported by over 40 radio & TV stations across regional Australia. Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) launches the Give Me 5 campaign every June across its regional radio and TV network, and the campaign lasts for the duration of the month. All donations received stay local and go directly to the children’s ward local to each station, in order to help provide the best possible care for sick local children and their families.
