The jury in Erin Patterson’s murder trial has found her guilty of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

A range of podcasts have covered the case, notably the ABC’s Mushroom Case Daily, Nine Podcast’s The Mushroom Trial: Say Grace and News Corp Audio’s The Mushroom Cook.

The podcasts had reporters in court today to cover the verdict.

The ABC’s Rachael Brown was in the room as the verdict was handed down. She told Stephen Stockwell how the dramatic moment unfolded, and shared a statement provided to Mushroom Case Daily from Erin Patterson’s close friend and supporter.

News Corp’s Laura Placella described the jury as they said, one by one, ‘guilty.’ She reported, “I was seated right in front of the dock… I looked at Erin, she sat expressionless… The jury have rejected her story that this was a tragic accident… they concluded that she deliberately put death caps in that meal…”

Erin Patterson welcomed her ex-husband’s parents Don and Gail Patterson and his aunt and uncle Heather and Ian Wilkinson to her home for a meal on July 29, 2023. Months later, she was charged with the murders of Don, Gail and Heather, as well as the attempted murder of Ian.
