After generating a huge response from keen radio sleuths, the case has finally been cracked! The owner of the old 2UE live broadcast caravan has come forward.
Yesterday, Radioinfo’s Jen Seyderhelm reported the story of the mystery 2UE caravan, parked on Bryant Street in Rockdale Park, Sydney.
At least, it used to be 2UE’s caravan. The station hasn’t owned it for years.

The local council had placed a sticker on the caravan, warning that if it wasn’t moved, it would be towed away and sold at auction.
Radio historians will be pleased to hear that won’t be happening.
After 2UE put out the call, a man by the name of Chris – who runs a pest control business – called 2UE Breakfast host Cathy Jubb this morning, identifying himself as the owner of the caravan.
Chris explained the caravan was sold to him for a great price, after he did some pest control work for Channel Nine.
“I’ve had it for about three and a half years now. They were obviously happy with my work, so they offered me the caravan.”
Chris is currently in the process of renovating the caravan so he can use it to go camping, but, as he’s also in the middle of moving house, it was tricky finding somewhere to park it. He and the local council have been working together to get things sorted and ensure a happy ending to this tale.
Chris told 2UE listeners there’ll also be a special nod to the caravan’s history.
“I have already ripped out most of the broadcasting equipment. I think I’m going to keep the front 2UE label on it. I do have the on-air light inside, and that will be staying.”
