National Film and Sound Archive needs your broadcasts of Fire and Flood

While the fires of Victoria and the floods of Queensland are both national tragedies, they are also important historical events that must be documented and preserved for future study. Nick Weare of The National Film and Sound Archive has told radioinfo that he would like to get hold of news reports, current affairs programs and emergency broadcasts by stations relating to the disasters in their areas.

Nick says, “If possible we’d like to get hold of material going back to the early stages, and especially with interviews with emergency services, politicians and affected people.

“These will form an important research and news resource for broadcasters in the future. Please ensure that station date time and names of broadcasters are included.”

Of course, Nick understands that right now, stations will be busy looking after victims (as they should) and his request may not be a priority. He asks that before logs are eventually wiped, that any relevant material be sent to him at the address below.
