NBN assisting community radio

MVFM, based in Tasmania’s Meander Valley, has starred in a YouTube video promoting the benefits of the National Broadband Network, which has just been rolled out in Deloraine.

Former ABC presenter and manager Nick Weare, who is now a presenter at the station, speaks highly of the benefits to the small, regional station, where volunteers need to send large files online via the NBN.

Weare has told radioinfo: MVFM has been connected and we use the NBN to stream, download and upload programs and music and have set up a free wifi service in our studios.”

The station launched in 2011 on the frequency 96.9FM, and reaches a total of about 19,000 people in the region west of Launceston.
