New 4BC Line Up across prime shifts

News Talk 1116 4BC has used the sudden departure of drive presenter, Chris Adams, as an opportunity to overhaul its key Monday-Friday shifts.

General Manager, David McDonald, has announced the new line up, which will take effect from Monday (4 July).

In the all important breakfast shift, Peter Dick will move from afternoons to join Ross Davie on air.

4BC will continue to take the John Laws’ program from 9am-Noon, while Greg Cary will slot into afternoons from Noon-3pm.

In the other big change, Chris Adams’ drive shift will be filled by John Miller – fresh from his recent health scare in the US.

Rod Tiley will present ‘Sports Today’ from 6-8pm, and Ian Maurice will return to 4BC on air in a full time role, covering 8pm-midnight.

McDonald says he is extremely excited by the new line up.

“The return of Peter Dick to the breakfast airwaves to join current breakfast presenter, Ross Davie, will provide great entertainment value for 4BC and its Brisbane listeners.

“Greg Cary – the doyen of professional broadcasters – returns to the airwaves in afternoons, where he will have more time to talk about the city he loves and the people and issues relating to it.

“The challenging drive shift will present no problems for the experienced current affairs’ commentator, John Miller, who successfully presented this show on 4BC in the late ’90s. Obviously, following on from his recent serious illness in New York, the switch to drive will also assist John in his recovery.

“Rod Tiley is one of the most experienced and best known sports’ presenters in Brisbane, and he will present an action packed, insightful look into the issues surrounding sport.

“Finally, Ian ‘The Bear’ Maurice makes a welcome return to 4BC nights, where he was previously a top rating performer.

“All presenters are looking forward to their new respective challenges, which begin next week in what should be an exciting period for News Talk 1116 4BC in its 75th year of broadcasting.”

Popular night host, Tony Murphy, will remain with the station, moving to weekends to present Saturday and Sunday nights.

Clare Blake, who has been co-presenting afternoons with Peter Dick, will finish with 4BC on Friday (1 July) and return full time to raising her young family.

McDonald says: “Obviously, she still remains in close contact with the station and will be utilised in the future should the opportunity arise.”

He says following on from discussions with Chris Adams, it was decided not to extend his agreement for a further term, but both parties have left the door open to continue talks for future opportunities.

McDonald has thanked Adams for his efforts and is hopeful he can contribute to the station in the near future.
