New Community Licence for Roxby Downs

The ABA has allocated a new community radio licence in Roxby Downs, South Australia.

The licence has been allocated to Rox FM Inc (RFI) on the 105.5 FM frequency.

RFI has been broadcasting under a temporary community licence which expires in two weeks. The permanent licence will become effective on 1 October.

ABA chief, Lyn Maddock, says: “The proposed service will add to the range and diversity of services in Roxby Downs. The applicant satisfied the ABA that it would meet the existing and perceived future needs of the community in the area.”

RFI was the only applicant. It already operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will provide a wide range of programs and cover many local issues. The new licensee is contactable on (08) 8671 2545.

The Roxby Downs licence was discussed at the recent SA Community Broadcasting Association conference in Adelaide.
