New media venture for radio’s Steve Hirst

He’s held senior management and leadership roles across a host of radio networks. Now, seasoned media professional Steve Hirst has launched a new venture: Media Street Consulting.

It’s designed to help industry tackle projects without expanding teams, offering solutions in the areas of commercial, operations and content.

Hirst has decades of experience in diverse management roles, including Sales Manager at ARN Melbourne, Group General Manager and General Manager positions at WIN Television, DMG Radio and Grant Broadcasters.

Additionally, he has held leadership roles such as Group Syndication at Nova Entertainment and Regional General Manager at News Corp.

More recently, he was the Sunshine Coast General Manager and Queensland brand funded podcast lead at SCA, during which time he was a three-time finalist in the Radio Today Podcast Awards.

Hirst is also widely recognised for his philanthropy work. In 2022, he set a Guinness World Record by pushing a lawnmower 107.5 km in 24 hours, raising over $70,000 for youth charity IFYS.

Last year, he broke another world record by catching an NFL football dropped by helicopter from 227.4 metres, again supporting IFYS’s Inclusive Kids program and raising an additional $20,000.

“Media Street Consulting is the culmination of my passion for media,” says Hirst.

“Our mission is to offer media organisations a flexible solution for tackling projects that currently lack dedicated resources—driving progress and aligning with broader business strategy.”
