New Sydney AM community radio licence called

Applications have been called for a new Sydney-wide community radio licence on AM 1386. The ABA varied the Sydney radio licence area plan in March 2002 to make this frequency available for a community broadcasting service instead of an open narowcasting service.

“The ABA planning process identified a demand for an extra Sydney-wide community service and the ABA is pleased to commence the allocation process for this new licence,” said ABA Chairman David Flint.

Applicants should contact the ABA’s Licensing Section on 1800 226 667 or (02) 9334 7700 for copies of the Sydney application information booklet. Applications must be received by Monday 12 August 2002.
