New Zealand Survey 1 2018

The results from the year’s first survey are in.

According to reports in The New Zealand Herald, commercial radio listenership in New Zealand has grown by 67,400, with listeners now hitting 3.39 million.

MediaWorks-owned station Magic recorded the highest share increase of any station, and MediaWorks’ stations The Edge, The Breeze and More FM scored three of the top five stations for weekly cumulative audience 10+.

For the ninth year running, Newstalk ZB host Mike Hosking held the number one Breakfast show.

MediaWorks chief executive Michael Anderson said radio is “undeniably a media juggernaut in New Zealand”.

NZME Chief Content Officer Matt Headland said “This is a great result for radio and its continued relevance for advertising as an effective medium to reach specific demographics. We’ve had a solid start to the year, NZME continues to perform strongly in Tauranga, and is gaining momentum in Wellington and Christchurch, where we’ve worked hard to ensure we’re delivering on radio.
