KO FM retained top spot in Newcastle Survey 3, (released Friday 23 August). KO FM scored 20.3%, up 0.7 share points from last survey. The Austereo/RGCapital owned station increased its breakfast audience by 2.1 share points and was up in ‘at work’ and weekend shifts.
Second placed 2HD also went up this survey, gaining 0.6 share points to 19.1%. The Caralis owned talk station dropped 1.9 share points in breakfast and 1.1 share points in mornings, but had good gains in evenings (up 3.4) and weekends (up 2.8).
NX FM was in third place on 18.4%, dropping some of its 10-17 audience, but gaining listeners in the 18-39 demographics. Fourth placed NEW FM scored 11.8%, down 0.3 share points on last survey, with a gain in breakfast but losses in other shifts.
ABC1233 won a 7.8% share of the audience, down by 1.0 on last survey. Triple J was down 0.9 share points to 5.6%, ABC Classic FM gained 0.4 to 2.5%, Radio National was up 0.1 to 1.4% and NewsRadio put on 0.4 to score 1.4%.
