The results for Newcastle’s first survey of 2014 have just been released. The survey was conducted for CRA between January 19 – April 12.
All the city’s commercial stations lost share this survey, with NX FM hit particularly hard, losing 6.4 share points overall and dropping into fourth place.
Market leader KOFM lost 2.6 share points overall, scoring 16.1%. Second placed ABC1233 gained 1.8 to 12.0%, and Triple j was third, up 0.5 to 11.2%.
NXFM was fourth on 10.3%, followed by 2HD, down 1.1 to 8.8%. New FM dropped 1.5 share points to fifth place on 8.4%. ABC Classic Fm rose 2.1 to 5.1% and NewsRadio was up 0.5 to 0.8%.
NXFM won the 10-17 demographics, triple j won 18-39s, KOFM won 40-54s, ABC1233 won 55-64s and 2HD won the over 65s.
KOFM’s new breakfast show with Tanya and Steve held on to top breakfast show position, despite a slight dip. ABC1233 breakfast gained most, moving in just behind KOFM in the breakfast timeslot. NXFM breakfast dropped significantly.
2HD’s John Laws regained top spot in the morning timeslot, just ahead of KOFM.
KOFM won afternoons and drive, ABC1233 won evenings and KOFM won weekends.
