Newcastle Survey results: ABC1233 up, NX FM top

The first 2007 Newcastle survey has been released, with triple j and ABC1233 recording the biggest increases and most other stations dropping or steady.

NX FM is the market leader on 19.5%, up 0.1 share points, just ahead of sister station KO FM, down 1.6 to 19.3%. 2HD dropped 2.4 share points to 14.2% and stablemate New FM lost 0.6 to 8.4%.

Local ABC station ABC1233 scored 11.6%, increasing 2.0 share points with gains in all shifts, especially breakfast, mornings and weekends. ABC1233 had overnight cricket broadcasts from the World Cup in the West Indies during the survey period. Triple J was up 2.7 share points to 8.7%.

ABC Classic FM scored 2.3%, Radio National scored 1.5% and NewsRadio had 0.9%.

NX won all the under 40 demographics, KO won 40-54s and 2HD won 55+.

NX FM’s Steve and Kim won breakfast, John Laws won mornings for 2HD, KO won afternoons, NX won drive and evenings, while KO won weekends.

ABC1233 had the biggest breakfast gain, up 2.0 share points, and KO dropped the most in breakfast, losing 3.7 share points.
