NXFM dominated all under 40 demographics, KOFM won 40-54s and 2HD won the over 55s. NXFM has a cumulative weekly reach of 194,000, followed by KOFM with 142,000. New FM has a weekly reach of 93,000 listeners, ABC1233 has 92,000 and 2HD has a cume of 83,000 weekly listeners

NXFM’s Steve & Kim won breakfast convincingly. NXFM mornings with Mel just won back the morning top spot from Steve Price after a good increase in that timeslot. NXFM won all other timeslots.

Radio Newcastle General Manager Steve Smith says: “These are very strong results for both NX and KO yet a little bitter sweet with NXFM’s gains in some sessions and age groups coming at the expense of KOFM. Ultimately though the listeners have again shown they love both our stations to bits.”

New FM was celebrating gaining 8,000 new listeners since the last survey (a 9.4% increase) and 2HD’s Guy Ashford says he is “ecstatic with Steve Price’s results, almost double the next best commercial radio station in 45+ share.”
