OB van for 2NSB

Sydney community radio station 2NSB FM 99.3 has purchased an Outside Broadcast unit that will give the station a highly visible presence at many local events in the spring and summer period.

It is approximately 5.5 metres long, which is a similar length to a shipping container and consists of a fibre-glass moulded body mated to a double-wheeled caravan chassis.

The actual OB Unit acquired by 2NSB was purpose built in the United States in the 1970s and was last used by Australian Radio Network. It has been fitted out with the required technical equipment and is currently undergoing exterior restoration, including a new paint job.

In the 2NSB livery, “it will present a strong visual statement at major local events with a bright orange colour scheme of the body and white top. The exterior fibre-glass is moulded into the shape of a radio receiver.”

2NSB Chairman, Mr Allen Morley said the station had been keen to obtain an outside broadcast unit for some time as it was important that the station was closely involved in the North Shore community and had the capability for live broadcasting from major events.

“We want all the people of the North Shore to not only be aware that there is a local radio station involved in their community, but be able to utilise the communication resource that we can provide,” said Morley.
