Melbourne was quite literally thunderstruck by AC/DC last night – with the band’s opening Australian show at the MCG picked up on the Richter scale.
This morning on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, chief scientist at the Seismology Research Centre Adam Pascali joined the show to confirm that low-frequency tremors from the MCG were recorded across the city during AC/DC’s thunderous 90-minute set.
Adam said: “It was all pumping through. It wasn’t just pumping sound into the air; it was pumping it into the earth. You can see where they started, where they kicked off, and the songs that had more shaking than others.”

Fifi Box revealed she thought her neighbours were throwing a house party before realising it was, in fact, Angus Young and AC/DC band performing 3 kilometres away.
The show was flooded with calls from listeners across Melbourne, from Balwyn to Caulfield North, who could hear AC/DC echoing through the night.
AC/DC will return to Melbourne on Sunday night – with 23 tonnes of amplifiers and speakers.
Listen to Fifi, Fev & Nick on Melbourne’s 101.9 The Fox from 6-9am weekdays, also on LiSTNR.
