Perth radio announcer pens open letter after Manchester tragedy

Pete Curulli, from mix94.5‘s Lisa & Pete, has found himself worrying more about the safety of his family than ever before after the recent tragedy at Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert on Monday night.

Returning home from the mix94.5 studio on Tuesday night, Pete walked into his daughter’s room, watching his beautiful baby sleep soundly. He picked her up, held her tight, and has never felt more scared for her in all her little life.

That night, Pete lay awake until 2am, unable to shake off the sadness and fear he felt, and so, he decided to pen an open letter, opening up about how this tragedy has affected him as a father, and as a human.

“I thought about how much this monster has taken away from people,” he wrote.

“We’ve been exposed to this on a world stage since 9/11, and I want so badly to join the chorus of people saying ‘you won’t win’ to the terrorists.

“But for the first time, I genuinely feel scared, for my daughter, for my family, and for myself.”

Bravely reading his letter out on air, Lisa & Pete decided to ask the people of Perth how they are feeling following the tragedy.
