Peter Fegan departs 4BC with immediate effect

Peter Fegan wrapped up his 4BC breakfast show this morning October 17 telling listeners to have a fantastic weekend and that he’d be back Monday morning at 5:30am. Unfortunately that will not be the case.

Instead he has finished up on air with immediate effect meaning that the station currently has no breakfast or morning presenter, after Bill McDonald’s surprise departure just three weeks ago.

An emaill to 4BC staff after Fegan’s shift ended from 4BC’s Content Manager said:

“I would like to share with you some changes being made to the 4BC on air lineup. Peter Fegan has finished up on air as the host of 4BC Breakfast.

“I thank Peter for his dedication to the station, his show and for bringing a cracking NRL season to life on air with his passion and enthusiasm for his beloved Broncos.

“Brisbane continues to be a tough radio market, and I am committed and determined to deliver programs that resonate with the Brisbane community and continue to grow our loyal 4BC audience.

“A new Breakfast program will be announced in due course…”

GfK Radio 360 Survey 6 was a particularly positive result for Nine Radio stations 2GB Sydney and 3AW Melbourne with 4BC seeing some positive growth, but not for Fegan.

Nine National Content Director Greg Byrnes told Radio Today post the survey:

“He’s determined to jump out of bed tomorrow and get into the studio and do it all over again. They’re tough jobs, they’re tough gigs and they’re tough hours, particularly breakfast, and nobody likes to see a show go down in the ratings. I know how hard they’re all working.”

Nine News weather presenter Luke Bradham will replace Peter from Monday. This pits him against his identical twin brother Ash, who does breakfast on Nova 106.9, which must be a first in radio circles. Brisbane also Margaux Parker on Triple M 104.5 breakfast up against her hubby, former NRL star Corey on SENQ.
