Port Macquarie radio ratings released

Radio stations Star FM, 2MC FM and Radio 531 have had their first radio ratings in the Port Macquarie/Kempsey area in more than 10 years.

And the results are in.

2MC is the station most listened to all people 10+ with 28.4%, followed by Star FM with 26.6%.

Triple J scored third place with 10.9%.

The survey, conducted by Xtra Research, is one of 20 regional surveys to be undertaken throughout the year to provide up to date data on regional radio audiences across the country.

In breakfast 2MC sits at number one with 28.6% followed again in second place by Star FM with 25.5%.

ABC local radio edged out Triple J for third spot with 11.3%.

“The Port Macquarie area has experienced considerable growth in recent years due to the large numbers of people from Sydney and Melbourne choosing to retire or have a sea change on the coast,” said Joan Warner, chief executive officer of industry body Commercial Radio Australia.

“Radio is an important and established part of the life of the local community, and some of the great personalities on air in Port Macquarie have been broadcasting there for decades,” added Ms Warner.

The radio industry introduced a new system for regional radio ratings last year, which allows smaller radio markets to undertake more regular, reliable and cost effective audience measurement.
