Pure will have 14 DAB+ radios ready for digital launch

Pure Australia’s Managing Director Graeme Redman told radioinfo his company will have 14 DAB+ receivers available in Australia by Christmas, ready for when digital radio launches next year.

The models were on display at this year’s radio conference (see picture).

All of the Pure radios will be traditional type radio models, but Redman is expecting to be able to also offer other models with screens during the 2009 calendar year.

In a later session on digital radio receivers Clem Kennedy told delegates his company is the only one which will have digital radio receivers with screens available at launch date. His iRiver audio player/DAB+ radio will likely cost $199 for the 2 gigabyte model and $249 for the 4 gigabyte model.

With the falling value of the Australian dollar, which has dropped by 30% in recent days, Redman was unwilling to put a price on his imported radios at this stage, although he expects them to range between $200 and $900 depending on the model.
