Racheal from Rebel FM raises funds by completing a 21km marathon

Rebel FM has just seen one of its behind-the-scenes team members complete a 21-kilometre marathon to raise funds for LIVIN, an organisation aiming to break the stigma of mental health.

Rebel Marketing Coordinator Racheal Parish signed up for the Asics Half Marathon on the Gold Coast earlier in the year, training 4 to 5 times each week in preparation for the marathon, and she says, “I train Muay Thai 4 to 5 days a week and with my own initiative, I would go for 10 to 12 km runs to warm up before training.”

However, just days before Racheal was set to run, the SEQ went into lockdown, cancelling the marathon, but this didn’t stop Racheal who says, “Though the event was cancelled and the day was full of rain, I was too determined to run. It was an immediate decision for me as I had a lot of support leading up to the race, and I couldn’t let them down.

“When I finished, I felt so accomplished – a proud moment for myself achieving something that I thought I could never do. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face!”

In the lead up to the marathon, Racheal managed to raise an amazing $521.75 for the LIVIN organisation.

“With so much generosity and kindness from all my wonderful supporters, we have managed to reach my goal and more,” she says.
