As Cup fever intensifies, 774 ABC Melbourne will spend the day at Flemington tomorrow for the race which stops the nation.

All the colour and sounds will be captured ‘live’ in the lead and during the call of the Melbourne Cup.

Virginia Trioli and Derek Guille begin the trackside coverage from 8.30am-noon, broadcasting from the Trainers’ and Jockeys’ Stand, which has sweeping views of the track. Grandstand’s Gerard Whateley will join them in the morning.

The Coodabeen Champions take the reins from midday, speaking with trainers, owners, jockeys and socialites.

The Grandstand sports team will harness all the anticipation in the build up to big race from 2.30.

Then, ABC listeners will hear the familiar voice of Greg Miles from Sky Racing, who will call all the day’s races including the Melbourne Cup at 3.10pm.

Throughout the day, all the news from the mounting yard will come direct from Drew Morphett, while Gerard Whateley will have the latest scratchings and tote information.

774 ABC Melbourne’s station reporter, Glen Bartholomew, and Ballarat’s Statewide morning presenter, Kathy Bedford will be roving reporters on the day.

The day’s coverage wraps up as the Coodabeen Champions come back for a special drive program from 3.30-6.
