Radar Radio discovers King of new Aussie talent

Austereo’s Radar Radio has scored a first for digital radio, catapulting a hot new Aussie talent HR King on to the main analog radio waves after the release of his single ‘Glamour Baby.’ The song was first added to Radar Radio’s playlist earlier this year and has now crossed over to the Today Network stations.

‘Glamour Baby’ was the second highest added single to commercial radio last week according to The Music Network, ahead of established artists such as Madonna and Guy Sebastian.

This formally undiscovered singer songwriter was discovered by Radar, a Digital Radio station and website (radarradio.com.au) dedicated to giving airplay to grass roots artists.

King says he is “honoured” to be a part of the new digital radio revolution.

Sydney born HR King has spent time in both Sydney and New York building his pop music career. His driving passion for music was the key motivator for Kin,g who has been pursuing his dream for the last seven years.

Crediting Radar Radio as a launch pad for his career, King says: “This is a great opportunity for me. Being a male solo pop artist in Australia, I’m fortunate and grateful that Radar Radio has found me and are willing to give me a push into the mainstream”.”

The remix of his debut single Glamour Baby will feature in upcoming Australian film Cedar Boys in which HR has a cameo appearance opposite Rachael Taylor. He’s also won various performance and songwriting awards, was a top ten finalist for the Pop Category at The 2008 Music Oz Awards, received an honourable mention for Highest Quality Songs at The Billboard World Song Contest in 2008 and was a semi-finalist in The 2008 UK Song Writing Contest.
