Radio announcer’s emotional message to Pauline Hanson

It was almost two years ago radioinfo profiled SCA’s Brad Wood.

At the time Brad was a workday announcer at 101.3 Sea FM on the Central Coast, he is now the operations manager and mornings announcer at Hit105 Brisbane.

Brad had shared his struggle with Asperger’s Syndrome, a type of pervasive developmental disorder (PDD).

PDDs are a group of conditions that involve delays in the development of many basic skills, most notably the ability to socialize with others, to communicate, and to use imagination.

Brad has taken to social media to speak out aainst Senator Pauline Hanson’s comments this week in which she said autistic kids should be removed from mainstream classes claiming it is so they can get “special attention” and for the benefit of other students.

…that is a horrid idea,” Brad says in his recorded message to the Senator.

“As a kid I was segregated. I grew up with ADHD which I have now gorwn out of. I still have Aspergere’s Syndrome and I still suffer the effects of of segregation in classrooms. To tell kids they can’t be part of the world is, essentially criminally wrong.”
