Radio Babylon ends after 10 Years

Community Radio’s popular, award-winning
World music program Radio
Babylon
concludes its ten-year run on December 31st, after 540 editions.

Networked each
week to over 20 stations around the country on the ComRadSat network, Radio Babylon has become
well-known for playing unusual music from around the world, and for in-depth
international interviews with some of World music’s biggest stars.

Presenter/producer Seth Jordan says,
“After 10 years it’s time for a change. After a break I’ll be returning in
March with a new 2-hour weekly program for the Community network. It will be
called The Tiki Lounge, and while it
will maintain a strong interest in global music culture, its playlist will be much
broader, with a fair bit of contemporary jazz included, plus the latest
creative beats, and some unusual aural soundscapes. They’ll be lots of
international and Aussie music interviews too.”

“I need to thank The Community
Broadcasting Foundation for supporting Radio Babylon over the years, as well as all the crew
at the CBAA in Sydney for continuing to transmit the program on their satellite
system. And of course a big thanks to all participating stations and their
listeners for all of the great feedback I’ve received over the last decade. I
hope to have their company again in The Tiki Lounge.”

Program funding for Radio Babylon was provided by the Commonwealth Government
through The Community Broadcasting Foundation.
