The Mercato Centrale in Milan opened a few years ago, located adjacent to the Central railway station.
It’s not only a place to eat and shop artisanal food, it is also a meeting point where food and culture come together, offering free events to the public.
The idea is that visitors can rediscover the historic role of the market as a meeting place, something to explore and open to the city through a constant dialogue. And experience music.
Alessio Bertallot is a DJ, musican and radio host. His new project in the Mercato is an artistic-radio installation, in which short instrumental discs with smooth sensation alternate with soundscapes of Milan that are ‘sound postcards’. He aims to give listeners an awareness of the key role sounds play in life.
Under Alessio’s artistic direction, radio lab gives voice to the Mercato. He plays Italian music, seeks opinions from the country’s intellectuals, artists and celebrities, and blends the live sounds of the market into a refined broadcast.
Tune into Radio Mercato Centrale by listening live at the market, online at mercatocentrale.it and with the Mercato Centrale app.
