Radio stars chat on TV

Austereo will showcase its Sydney and Melbourne breakfast talent on TV in a program called The Chat Room, which beings this week on Channel 7.

Sydney breakfast presenters Amanda Keller, Greg Fleet and Peter Berner, join with Melbourne breakfast talent Matt Tilley and Tracey Bartrum and Jackie O to host the program.

The Chat Room, a co-production between Austereo TV and the Seven Network is “one hour of laughs, crazy stories, musical guests, stand-up comics and audience interaction. A group of mates who get together once a week in your lounge room to chat about news headlines, share a few jokes and give you their view of the world.”

The format has worked well for The Panel, and, if the Austereo radio presenters are comfortable in the TV medium, should also work for them. One of their first guests is Kylie Minogue.

Former Triple M breakfast presenter Andrew Denton also begins another TV talk/interview show this week on the ABC, called Enough Rope. Denton already has a record of successful TV shows to his credit.

In this era of the internet the name “Chat Room” is a popular one. Triple J also has a program called “The Chat Room,” a mixture of music and talk on Sunday nights, hosted by Gaby Brown.
