Radio tinder “swipes” into marriage

919 Sea FM’s BarRat and Jess saw Tinder’s use exploding, so they turned it into a radio segment, that one and a half years later, saw Kristy marry Kurt at a surprise wedding.

Kurt called 919 Sea FM in August 2014. On-hold were three ladies waiting to see which way he would “swipe”. Who knew…. he was blown away by the first caller ‘Kristy’, so with no need to keep looking (or listening in our radio version), BarRat and Jess sent the couple off to The Creek Tavern for a date.

Three months in and Kurt proposed to Kristy, with her response “If you’re serious, you’ll do it nude on the tennis court”. So Kurt went to the tennis court, dropped his towel, got on one knee and popped the question!

Kristy said “YES!” straight away.

On the 14th February 2016, Valentine’s Day, they surprised their family and friends as they eloped at Novotel Twin Waters Resort, witnessed by the two that introduced them, 919 Sea FM’s BarRat and Jess.

“We are just so thrilled that the power of radio can help people find their soul mate. It was an honour to be there and witness two people visibly emotional and genuinely in love.” – Jess.

919 Sea FM’s Content Director, Rod Brice commented, “This shows the power of local radio. There is no way we could have anticipated a quick talk topic, would end in an actual marriage.”

Adam “BarRat” finishes with “I’m surprised something we did actually worked”!
