Radiodays North America 2024: Four Australian speakers

By Dave Charles,  CEO Media RESULTS Inc

Radiodays North America is locked in from June 2-4, 2024 at Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto with a host of speakers announced for this year’s conference including four Australians. It was a sell out last year with over 23 countries participating in a well rounded agenda.

Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect this year:

One of the important elements of Radiodays is our collaboration with our broadcast partners to help identify the key challenges facing the audio industry so that we can then build a program around these issues.  In addition to an executive Steering Committee that provides oversight, the RDNA Program Group is tasked with creating ideas, content and speaker suggestions for the conference.  This group is made up of individuals from Canada, the U.S. and Europe which helps bring a truly international focus to the conference.

Radiodays North America is about all things audio, over the air, digital and podcasting. Recognising the growth and popularity of podcasting, we have created a podcast summit that will take place on Sunday, June 2nd in the afternoon from 12:00 – 6:00 pm.  This will be a separate ticketed event at a reduced price specifically targeted to the podcast community and those individuals who are relatively new to the business.  Here’s how it’s being positioned:

The Podcast Power-Up: Emerging Voices and Industry Innovators.

How can you take your passion for podcasting to the next level? What are the key success factors? Which business model should you choose? How do you build audience? The Podcast Power Up will give you case studies, expert advice, and networking opportunities to answer these questions and more.

Additional podcasting sessions will also be included throughout the main conference on June 3rd and 4th.

Another key area of focus for the conference will be the emergence of AI and its impact on the industry.

There are three different sessions dealing with this subject headed by a special keynote presentation by noted consumer trend expert Matt Britton titled: Harmonizing AI and Gen Z: Reshaping the future of Radio, music and streaming. This will be followed by a town hall round table discussion about AI and its role in the radio industry. A third session in the works will be an AI Workshop with Zach Zalon from Super HiFi.

The Australian audio market continues to be the poster child for “getting it right” in the radio business.

Coming to Toronto this year will be Emily Copeland from the Australian Radio Network talking about building a new multi-platform audio brand for youth.

John Musgrove from Commercial Radio and Audio with an overview behind radio’s success in Australia providing ideas that could be adapted for your market.

The internationally recognised Aussie consultant Craig Bruce (formerly with SCA Radio networks) will also be here with a special presentation on talent and their critical role in a radio station’s success.

Radio futurologist James Cridland will join us with his latest updates on audio and the podcast world.

Also speaking will be Eric Nuzum, veteran podcast creator and strategist will distill a career’s worth of wisdom, advice, practical information, and big-picture thinking to help podcasters “make noise”—to stand out in this fastest of fastest-growing media universes.

Skip Dillard – Format VP for Rhythmic AC and Throwback formats at Audacy in New York and,

Sean Ross, editor of the Ross On Radio newsletter and a longtime Classic Hits strategist will be doing a session on: Keeping Throwback Radio Moving Forward touching on keeping the format topical and relevant, musical trends in gold-based formats and how to negotiate a more crowded landscape.

Diversity and representation are a cornerstone of Radiodays North America. One of the most popular sessions last year at Radiodays North America featured a session on Women Trailblazers in Broadcasting and plans are already underway to bring this panel back.  Also in the works is an Indigenous Voices session.

More sessions and speakers will be added to RDNA, RadioDays North America soon.
