The first day of summer tomorrow will bring a brand new sound to the Sunshine Coast.
Salt106.5 will launch on what was 106five Rhema FM.
Salt106.5’s new CEO, Phil Gray said:
“The station is a new kind of radio station in that its ‘not just for Christians’ (as it was), it’s a station that is focused on our community and positive family values! Simply put, we are ‘Good Friends, with Great Music and a message of Hope.’ We will promote ‘faith, family & fun’.”
“The station is designed to create great radio that focuses on, relates to, and serves the mums and dads of the Sunny Coast – local families.”
To help create a station that connects with a wider audience of listeners, Salt106.5 has brought in Tim Sisarich, a seasoned media professional from New Zealand. But Phil Gray added “don’t hold that against him, he really does understand media and loves families – he has five children of his own and also spent almost a decade running Focus on the Family NZ.”
Sisarich, who will be joining well-known and much loved Sunshine Coast personality Jo Bouris of Salt 106.5’s Morning Wake-up (6-9 weekdays), has worked with some of the world’s biggest radio and TV companies, but has always had a passion for community-focused values based media and especially loves the platform of local radio.
As the station’s goal is to genuinely connect with the local community and to build real relationships with listeners, Phil Gray explains: “we will be out and about as much as possible – at the Christmas Lights extravaganza at Lifepointe Baptist Church, our breakfast announcers will MC the Nambour Carols and other events, and would love to connect with you as we are more intentional about mixing with the community.”
The station is also bringing on another highly experienced presenter Fiona Cameron (9am-12noon), and is retaining services of long-time broadcaster Steve Dunster (12noon – 3pm), and the popular husband and wife duo, Luke & Susie (3-6pm).
In addition to this, Salt106.5 will feature some of Australia’s most encouraging and up-lifting communicators and speakers, making it a radio station “that will truly inspire, encourage and connect with the whole family.”
