It may share a similar name to a popular TV show, however it had a completely different concept.
River 94.9’s ‘Married at First Light’ was unleashed to find ‘that’ couple that had been together for a long time and were yet to ‘tie the knot’ for one reason or another.
Out of several hundred entries and a short list, Sam Bestmann and Ian Spierenburg from Mount Warren Park were chosen to receive a wedding they wouldn’t forget, and of course one they didn’t have to pay for.
This morning, at the picturesque Branell Homestead in Laidley, the months of planning for ‘River 94.9’s Married at First Light’ culminated into a day to be remembered by many. Sam and Ian became Mr and Mrs Spierenburg at their ceremony that stared at ‘first light’, shortly after 6am.
River 94.9’s Campo and Michelle were there broadcasting their show live on air to cover all the special moments – before and after the ceremony.
Shane O’Brien, River 94.9’s General Manager said, “Every day, in every way – we try to give back to our listeners and to our community. When the opportunity came up to give away a wedding with all the trimmings to a family in our listening audience – we jumped at it.
“We’re thrilled that Sam and Ian (and their gorgeous kids Tahlia and Fletcher) allowed us to help them celebrate their commitment to each other at sunrise this morning. It was a beautiful ceremony, in a stunning location.”
The newly wedded Mr & Mrs Spierenburg said, “We’re so grateful to everyone at River 94.9 for doing this – and to all the sponsors and suppliers involved. Especially Branell Homestead for such an amazing venue, and Springfield Jewellers for our stunning wedding bands.”
“This is something that we have wanted to do for years – and life just kept getting in the way. We’re so happy that River 94.9 finally made this happen for us.”
River 94.9 conducted a “UHF Wedding” in 2015, and now “Married at First Light” in 2017.
