Robbie and Wendy pack up the caravan and head off

On this morning’s last show, Robbie Buck and Wendy Harmer replayed segments from their 3 years on air together, indulged in some of their favourite songs and were farewelled by the ABC’s Managing Director David Anderson.

Anderson told the departing breakfast duo, “I just want to say thank you very much on behalf of the ABC for keeping us informed entertained and connected through good times and bad. It’s been a pleasure to have you at the ABC.

“There were some pretty tough times there where everyone was depending on you, through those dark moments of COVID to keep them informed and connected.”

The breakfast show, which runs from 6am to 10am, is still on air, with Buck and Harmer doing the first part of it from their usual studio, then moving into the ABC’s TV studio where a live audience will watch the last 90 minutes of the show, then send the pair off with a final celebration.

Robbie Buck has been with the ABC for 25 years and is now planning to take a break before returning to the national broadcaster in some capacity after his leave.

Wendy Harmer, who had a high profile career on 2Day FM breakfast for many years, joined the ABC in 2015 and moved into the long co-hosted breakfast format in 2018.

The station’s new breakfast presenter, James Valentine, will begin his new show immediately next week, the same day as the stations gets a new manager.
