Rugby League attracts older audience

The demographics of Sydney Rugby League listeners have changed over the past two years. Across the three AM rugby league broadcasters, 2UE, ABC702 and 2GB, listening by people over 55 is up by 12%, but listening by the under 55 demographics has dropped.

Ray Hadley’s call on 2GB was the winner of the footy timeslots, but his younger audience dropped from 63% to 51% from when he was on 2UE. ABC702 has the youngest audience profile for football listeners. Some observers put the change down to the increase in Pay TV sport viewing by younger audiences.
