Rural Press Awards announced

The Rural Press Club Awards were announced last Friday night with wins to Local Radio Victoria.

Nikolai Beilharz and the Vic Country Hour took out the Best Feature story (broadcast) for the 70th anniversary Country Hour OB – this program was all about buying local, and what happens when people don’t – and how it can change.

Horsham based rural reporter Dani Grindlay, took out the Best Feature Series (Drought) for her look at drought. 

Dani also was highly commended in the Best Agricultural story, for her story on an apple orchard; and was high commended for the best feature story for broadcast on her stories about mental health.
 

Edwina Farley and the national unit were also highly commended in the Best features series for Broadcast with their series on food labels and also highly commended for the best multimedia for their piece on drought policy.

ABC Open Producer in Warrnambool, Emily Bissland won for her outstanding ABC Open Video on Peter Bakker who is a leading researcher in the field of Aboriginal military history.
