SCA, ACE and Grant get part of $1.8 million for cadets

Southern Cross Austereo, Ace Radio Broadcasters and Grant Broadcasters are among 41 regional companies to receive part of $1.8 million to support journalism cadetships in regional and remote areas.

This first funding round is part of the Federal Governments $60 million Regional and Small Publishers Cadetships Program aimed at setting up 200 cadetships over the next 2 years.

SCA says the grant will enable them to employ 2 cadet journalists with a specific focus on newsgathering in Regional Australia and the cadets will be exposed to grassroots journalism, with the added benefit of being part of a large and supportive SCA News Team.

Cadets will learn the basics including writing, interviewing, reading news, with a filter of uncovering news that truly matters to people who live and love living regionally.

Jobs will be advertised in the coming months.
