SCA acquires in digital expansion strategy

Southern Cross Austereo has made a further development in its digital strategy with the acquisition of Video Gaming Publisher and appointment of its founder and owner, Shannon Grixti as Managing Editor.

Press Start Australia was founded at the beginning of 2014 with the vision of creating content for all types of gamers/techies in Australia.

Grixti has been named in APAC’s 30 under 30 twice and has grown his audience to roughly 30,000 social media followers.

“Given SCA’s own reach and scale from its traditional media assets and its social media clout, the company saw this acquisition as a massive commercial opportunity”.

The acquisition is yet another step in SCA’s content diversification and digital transformation as a business.

Head of Digital Content, Chris McWilliams believes the move is further testament to the company’s ambition and vision.

“We know finding digital-savvy talent is the way of the future and Shannon is one of those young guns who has achieved great things in this area,” he said.

“He’s smart, strategic and savvy…. and he’s 24. Watch this space!”

Grixti added, “SCA have offered me an opportunity to take PressStart to the next level. Their radio broadcast and digital publishing reach as well as their social communities are the megaphone PressStart needs to become truly great.”

SCA is incomparable to its competitors. I’m excited to explore the next chapter of Press Start.”

Grixti has already started with SCA and is in the process of migrating to SCA’s content platform as soon as possible.
