Sea FM Hobart raises $52,000 in bushfire appeal

The generosity of Tasmanians was reflected in the outcome of Sea FM 100.9’s bushfire appeal this week with the community donating over $52,000 to help victims.

 

Last Friday, 100.9 SEA FM hosted a 9 hour, 40 celebrity guest RadioThon to raise vital funds for the survivors and their Families. The aim; to assist in the rebuilding of towns in our community and unite a state after the devastation.

The station was overwhelmed with the response to the donation of $52,037.70 that has gone straight to the Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfire Appeal.  

Appeal supportes included: The Footy Show’s James Brayshaw, Opposition Leader Will Hodgeman, Home And Away’s Lisa Gormley, Footy Great Billy Brownless, entertainers The Wiggles, Comedian Paul McDermott, Andrew Wilkie Mp, Ben Milbourne & Andy Allen From Masterchef, Puppeteer David Strassman, Grinspoon, The Weather Channel’s Dick Whiticker joined Hamish and Andy’s Andy Lee, comedian Sammy J, Mamamia’s Mia Freeman, Aussie rocker Shannon Noll, fashion designer Alannah Hill, AFL superstar Jack Riewoldt and the fastest Australian in NASCAR Marcos Ambrose.

Former HI5 and radio and TV personality Charli Delaney, also supported the appeal, along with Ricky Ponting and the Hobart Hurricanes, actress Sophie Monk and Tasmania’s Legendary Axman David Foster, comedian Adam Richard, World Boxing Champion Danny Geale, comedian Dave Thornton, singer Ella Hooper, Premier Lara Giddings, Jo Palmer, Rachel Williams and Murph from Southern Cross News, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott and SEA ‘s Fifi & Jules.

Boost Juice Eastlands donated the entire day’s takings to the RadioThon on Friday. $4,000 went to the overall tally on the day.

There was also an online action with 10 items from Blundstone, Hobart Hurricanes, Tasmanian Tigers, Cash Converters, Sophie Monk, Mamamia.com.au and Masterchef’s Ben & Andy.

The day  brought together the volunteers, the survivors and the stories of the recent bushfire to rip through Tasmania.  “They have all been our inspiration in bringing this day together,” Leanne “Stampsy” Stamps told radioinfo, as she sent a message of thanks to all who supported the appeal.
