Sharing the Vision – Vision Australia Radio partners with Theatre Company and Writers Festival

Continuing to make the arts accessible for people who are blind or have low vision, Vision Australia Radio have partnered with Black Swan State Theatre Company and Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival.

Black Swan State Theatre Company have released an audio brochure for its 2026 West Australian season with detailed, accessible information, ensuring that patrons can independently explore productions, key dates and access options.

The brochure is part of a growing accessibility partnership between Black Swan State Theatre Company and Vision Australia Radio, built on a shared commitment to inclusion and representation in cultural spaces. In addition, Black Swan continues to offer a range of audio described performances, giving audiences live narration of visual elements on stage. These performances, alongside other access initiatives, are designed to ensure blind and low vision patrons can fully enjoy the storytelling, atmosphere and creativity of theatre.

Vision Australia Radio is also proud to return as a media partner of the Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival in Melbourne in 2026. The Festival runs from March 12 to 17 featuring 34 free events over the six days. Vision Australia Radio supports the festival’s micro fiction competition, which encourages writers to tell powerful stories in just a few carefully chosen words. The winning micro fiction entries will be featured in a special episode of Hear This, hosted by France Keyland, that will air in March. You can listen to last year’s winners below.

The Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival this year features an impressive line‑up, including opening night speaker Nam Le, along with well‑known authors, filmmakers, comedians and media professionals. All events are free to attend, but places are limited and bookings essential.

Listeners to Vision Australia Radio can also expect to hear more from Black Swan in the months ahead, including news, interviews and reviews connected to the theatre’s 2026 season. Coverage will highlight productions, artists, and accessibility initiatives, helping blind and low vision audiences stay informed and connected to Western Australia’s flagship theatre company.
